The NFL MVP award is usually too predictable. Peyton Manning won five throughout his illustrious career. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers each have two. There haven’t been many surprise candidates who stole the award.

Adrian Peterson in 2012 and Cam Newton in 2015 come to mind. We’re sure that it’s going to be a quarterback that wins the 2016 NFL MVP--but for all we know, it could be a player who doesn’t call the plays in the huddle for their team.

Here is our list of the 10 most likely players to win MVP.

Under Armour Curry 2.5 ‘Journey to Excellence’ Pack

http://i1.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/BS1288403-750_FA.gif?fit=640%2C427

Stephen Curry’s all set to make his second consecutive summer trip to Asia. He’ll head east in a few days and will land in Shenyang on September 2.

To celebrate this trip, Under Armour will be releasing the “Journey to Excellence” Pack. The pack contains two new colorways of the 2.5, both inspired by the upcoming trip. Here’s more from UA:

The Sun Wukong is inspired by the hero’s ability to overcome all obstacles, via great power that is often underestimated, just like Stephen. The Erlang Shen colorway is inspired by the novel, “Journey to the West,” by the character of the same name; Shen is always super calm with laser focus, the same as the back-to-back MVP, with his vision to see all possibilities on the court.

The pack launches exclusively on UA Shop (both iOS and Android) on September 1. Under Armour Brand Houses nationwide and UA.com will drop the colorways on September 3, for $ 135.

Tour dates for Steph include:

September 2: Shenyang
September 3-4: Guangzhou
September 5: Hong Kong
September 6: Taipei

Follow the tour @UnderArmour and @UABasketball.

Cristiano Ronaldo Playing Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul At Poker Is Epic

Cristiano Ronaldo Playing Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul At Poker Is Epic

Poker FB 1

Cristiano Ronaldo is a man with more than a few quid to spare, and given he’s injured at the minute, he doubles as a man with a bit of spare time on his hands.

When the common person like you or me gets a few quid and some spare time, it usually ends up with a dirty kebab after numerous pints and an Uber home at silly o’clock in the morning.

But this is Ronaldo, and he decided to take on Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul in a charity poker match, with the small matter of £15,000 at stake.

The Real Madrid star, who has enjoyed arguably the best year of his career in terms of trophies, winning both the Champions League and Euro 2016, was playing for the Right To Play charity, while Paul was trying to win the cash for Save The Children.

Check it out:

And, because he basically wins anything he tries his hand at, Ronaldo claimed the cash, leaving Paul wishing he had some kind of help from Walter White/Heisenberg to help him out.

With the Brazilian Ronaldo also a keen poker player, maybe the next clash needs to be Ronaldo vs Ronaldo, to see who the true poker king is.

YEAH, POKER BITCH! (Apologies if you’ve never seen Breaking Bad).

Baylor WR Ishmael Zamora suspended 3 games for beating his dog

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Ishmael-Zamora.jpg?fit=600%2C354

Ishmael-Zamora

Baylor announced on Tuesday that redshirt sophomore wide receiver Ishmael Zamora has been suspended for the first three games of the season after a video surfaced showing him abusing his dog.

The school said in a press release that Zamora will sit out while completing 40 hours of community service “in a manner that will teach him kindness and respect toward animals.” Zamora has also been ordered to enter a counseling program and give the dog up.

“Our football program does not condone this behavior by anyone,” acting head coach Jim Grobe said. “We are deeply saddened by it and have worked together with the university to hold Ishmael accountable for his actions.”

The video, which was obtained by KXXV in Waco earlier this month, showed Zamora kicking and hitting his dog with a belt. The footage was discovered after it was shared on Snapchat by one of Zamora’s teammates back in June. A former Baylor student reported it to Animal Control and the Baylor Police Department.

Zamora told authorities he was only trying to discipline the animal, not hurt it. He issued an apology on Tuesday.

“I am sorry that I took out my frustration on my dog and accept the punishment that comes with it. This incident will never, ever, happen again,” Zamora said. “I truly love my dog, however, I know that my actions showed differently and I know that I made a big mistake. I apologize to my family, teammates, Baylor University and our fans for my actions.

“Eventually, I hope that everyone can see who I really am and that I am not a terrible person. This incident does not and will not define me, and I know that I am the one who will have to prove that to others in the days ahead.”

Zamora had nine receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns last season. He is expected to be one of Baylor’s top receivers this season.

Already dealing with a major sexual assault scandal, Baylor’s reputation is getting worse by the day.

CJ McCollum doesn’t think Stephen Curry can guard him

http://i1.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/cj-mccollum-doesnt-think-stephen.jpg?fit=640%2C360

cj-mccollum-blazers

Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum doesn’t let anything stand in his way, not even a unanimous MVP.

Hosting an impromptu Q&A on Twitter Tuesday night, McCollum was asked if he thinks Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry can guard him. McCollum’s answer was brief and blunt.

The reigning NBA Most Improved Player doesn’t seem to be just blowing smoke either. Though he has improved over the years, Curry has never had the strongest track record as a one-on-one defender. Even if he finished sixth amongst point guards in defensive real plus-minus last season (per ESPN), Curry is aided by the lengthy, versatile support provided by his teammates from within the Golden State defensive structure. There, he is often afforded the luxury of being hidden on the other team’s weakest offensive threat. Curry can definitely make a play on the ball every now and then with his quick hands and strong anticipatory instincts. But his weaknesses on the defensive end were really exposed in this year’s NBA Finals when the Cavaliers found a great deal of success by relentlessly attacking him on switches.

For McCollum’s part, he is quickly developing a reputation as one of the Association’s better guards at breaking down a defender with his handle and creating separation for a shot off the dribble. McCollum’s assertion about himself and Curry passes the eye test with flying colors as well.

The confidence of McCollum, who has already taken umbridge to the Warriors in the past, certainly isn’t lacking, and that will be important for the Blazers if they hope to remain competitive in the Darwinistic Western Conference.

Report: Chris Bosh still frustrated with Heat handling of health situation

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chris-bosh-1.jpg?fit=536%2C352

Chris Bosh

The Miami Heat still have not cleared Chris Bosh to play, and Bosh remains frustrated with the team over that situation.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Bosh and his wife Adrienne have been very active on social media in the past week, partly as a coordinated effort to show that the veteran big man looks and feels ready to return to the NBA.

The Heat, however, still have not cleared Bosh to play after another blood clot scare ended his season prematurely.

Miami likely will not be able to get Bosh off the cap, even if he doesn’t play until February 9. The expectation is, if things got that far, the player and the players’ union would almost certainly enlist a doctor to fight it.

The Heat have implied that Bosh will be back soon enough. It feels as if we could be in for something ugly if this goes on much longer.

Tim Tebow receives contract offer from independent league team

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/tim-tebow-baseball-1.jpg?fit=600%2C367

Tim Tebow baseball

Tim Tebow has received another offer to play professional baseball, although this one is much less serious than his previous offer.

The Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League offered Tebow a baseball contract on Wednesday.

“The Bluefish welcome Tim with open arms,” said Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole. “The Atlantic League is all about giving players opportunity, and we think Bridgeport would be a great place for him to begin his professional baseball career.”

What makes this a publicity stunt of sorts? The fact that the Atlantic League’s regular season ends in less than three weeks. That wouldn’t be enough time for Tebow to do much. Let’s also not forget that this team made headlines earlier this year by having Jennie Finch guest manage the team for a day.

Tebow already has a legitimate offer from a Venezuelan winter league team outstanding, and he received interest from a handful of MLB teams after his workout Tuesday.

Getting his feet wet in independent league ball wouldn’t be the worst thing for Tebow, but it makes sense for him to hold out for something better.

Steelers claim Zach Mettenberger off waivers

Zach Mettenberger

Zach Mettenberger has a new team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers claimed Mettenberger off waivers and were awarded him on Wednesday, according to reports.

Mettenberger, who was a 6th-round pick by the Titans in 2014, played two seasons in Tennessee. He was in camp with the Chargers but they waived him after undrafted Mike Bercovici beat him out on the depth chart.

The Steelers were looking for more depth at the QB position after third-stringer Bruce Gradkowski suffered a season-ending hamstring injury.

Arsenal’s Wilshere joins Bournemouth on loan – club

London (AFP) – Jack Wilshere’s fall from grace shows no sign of slowing as the Arsenal midfielder made a shock move to Bournemouth on a season-long loan on Wednesday.

Wilshere was once regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in the Premier League, but Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has allowed the 24-year-old to leave the Emirates Stadium in a bid to revitalise his career.

“Jack is a fantastic addition to the club,” Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said after Wilshere was pictured holding up the club’s red and black striped shirt outside their Dean Court stadium.

Eddy Curry: ‘They Babied Me In Chicago’

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Eddy-Curry.jpg?fit=640%2C427

Eddy Curry is returning to the court soon as part of the new Champions Basketball League, but during a speaking engagement at Metea Valley High School in Aurora, IL, the big man reminisced on his NBA playing days.

Curry, who was speaking to a group of 30 high school athletes, talked about what life was like as a professional athlete and how different life was as a Chicago Bull compared to being a New York Knick.

From the Naperville Sun‘s Suzanne Baker:

He said his only regret was not attending college and participating in the rites of passage, like living in a dorm, or experiencing the growth and maturity so many NBA players received as college athletes.

“It would be super dope to have a college diploma,” Curry said.

A graduate of Thornwood High School in South Holland, Curry was just 18 when he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the first found of the 2001 NBA draft.

“I was a kid coming out of high school, literally,” he said.

“When I was in Chicago, they babied me in Chicago. They really kind of sheltered and kept us kind of concealed and didn’t let us get into a lot of stuff. Then I went to New York and it was total opposite. It was like boom,” he said.

Curry ran into a number of problems while in New York, including financial issues and a sexual harassment suit that was later dismissed, and is now using his career as a cautionary tale to young athletes chasing their own dreams of stardom.

Here Are More Changes To The UCL You Need To Know About

Here Are More Changes To The UCL You Need To Know About

PA 28469281PA Images

As you’ll probably know, the Champions League is changing from the 2018/19 season.

The top four leagues from across Europe will be guaranteed four qualification places, with the co-efficient rating scrapped.

But that’s not enough for UEFA, according to German newspaper Bildwho report that kick off times are also set to change, to maximise TV revenue.

Currently, all Champions League games kick off at 7.45pm, except games played in Russia, which get underway at 5.30pm.

But, under the new proposals, games would kick off at 6pm and 8pm, meaning the action on a Tuesday and Wednesday night would follow a similar pattern to the one that the Europa League currently does.

This way, every game can be televised and no one can miss out by being shown at the same time as another match.

We’ve all been there, when we have to choose to watch either Bayern Munich vs Juventus or Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid, but under the new idea, that could be a thing of the past.

PA 28469205PA Images

And it would also mean whoever owns the rights to show English teams in the Champions League will be able to show two teams on one night, rather than pick one over the other.

We often criticise governing bodies for messing around with our game too much, but if this is one step further towards killing the idea of a breakaway ‘Super League’, then that’s fine by me.

Les Miles has firm warning for LSU players considering Lambeau Leap against Wisconsin

Les Miles carried

The LSU Tigers face the Wisconsin Badgers at Lambeau Field on Saturday, so naturally, a few LSU players thought they’d have some fun with it if they scored a touchdown.

Several players, including punt returner and cornerback Tre’Davious White, said they’d perform the Lambeau Leap if they scored a touchdown in the game, no matter what the punishment was for doing it. By NCAA rule, it would be a 15-yard penalty, though the players expected coach Les Miles to have something else in mind.

“Definitely. I’m pretty much just open to whatever punishment that’s going to come my way Monday,” White said, via Ross Dellenger of the Advocate. “It’s going to be bad, but I feel like, it’s just a dream of mine. Whatever Coach Miles has in store, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be some bad things. I’m ready to do it. It’s my last year. I want to make some memorable moments.”

So, coach, what would you do to them if they did?

Alrighty then. That’s pretty persuasive. Perhaps Les is just aware of the hazards of the Lambeau Leap. Frankly, at this point, I hope White scores a touchdown on Saturday now. I want to see how committed he is to defying his coach.

Noah Syndergaard is not pleased by the wave starting at Citi Field

Noah Syndergaard does not like the wave.

The New York Mets pitcher called out the Citi Field fans after the team’s 7-4 win on Tuesday night and had some strong opinions about the practice.

I’ve never been even remotely fond of the wave, but I’ve wondered what players themselves think about it. Opinions are probably varied, but now we know how Syndergaard feels, at least. Perhaps he can head back to his home state, where there’s a franchise whose views very much seem to align with his own.

Antonio Brown, Steelers agree to restructured contract

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Antonio-Brown-3.jpg?fit=600%2C360

Antonio-Brown

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has agreed to a restructured contract with the team, according to multiple reports.

A source told NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo that the new deal still runs through the 2017 season. However, some of the money Brown was set to earn next season has been tacked onto his contract for this year. Brown’s salary for the 2016 season was originally $ 6.25 million, but another $ 4 million has been pushed forward, so he’ll earn over $ 10 million this upcoming season.

While Brown had made it clear that he wants a new contract, he chose not to hold out of training camp and instead trusted that the Steelers would take care of him. For now, the restructure is a temporary fix.

Brown will not want to play out the final year of his contract in 2017 without a new deal, and NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport is reporting the Steelers have promised him he will get a new long-term contract next offseason. Brown is widely considered to be the best wide receiver in football, but he has yet to cash in on a big contract like Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, A.J. Green and Julio Jones have.

The good news for Brown is he can supplement his income with crazy side bets with Brandon Marshall. That should help him put food on the table this year.

As Hart joins Torino, five British players who sought fame in Italy

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/f0e4a3bd69ae02b113e82037bbff3aeaca0501ac.jpg?fit=640%2C426

London (AFP) – Frozen out by new manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, England goalkeeper Joe Hart completed a season-long loan move to Italian side Torino on Wednesday.

AFP Sport recalls five British players who went to Italy seeking fame and fortune.

John Charles (Juventus, Roma)

Nicknamed ‘Il Gigante Buono’ (‘The Gentle Giant’), Wales international Charles joined Juventus from Leeds United in 1957 and would go on to become one of the Turin giants’ greatest foreign signings. The strapping striker, who could also play at centre-back, scored 93 goals in 155 appearances over five years at the club, helping Juve to three Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia crowns. Formidable in the air, he was also renowned for his sense of fair play. He came third in the Ballon d’Or voting in 1959 and was in 1997 elected Juve’s greatest foreign player by the club’s fans. Charles also spent time at Roma, scoring four goals in 10 Serie A games during the 1962-63 season. He died aged 72 in 2004.

Gerry Hitchens (Inter Milan, Torino, Atalanta, Cagliari)

A largely unheralded figure in his homeland, Hitchens enjoyed the most enduring success in Italy of any British footballer. He joined Inter Milan from Aston Villa in 1961 and did not return to England until 1969 following subsequent spells at Torino, Atalanta and Cagliari. When he was named in England’s squad for the 1962 World Cup in Chile, he became the first English player to represent his country while playing for a club overseas. But manager Alf Ramsey’s preference for domestically based players meant Hitchens won only seven international caps, scoring five goals. He died at the age of 48 after suffering a heart attack during a charity football match in North Wales.

Denis Law (Torino)

Law was 21 and a Scotland international when he joined Torino from Manchester City in 1961 for a fee of 115,000 pounds ($ 151,000, 135,610 euros). But his time in Italy was dogged by problems from the start, with Inter Milan attempting to hijack his move to Turin before it had been completed. Law struggled to get to grips with the defensive nature of Italian football and in February 1962 he was injured in a car crash with Scottish team-mate Joe Baker. After being sent off in a match against Napoli, he flew home to Aberdeen and managed to force through a move to Manchester United. He would form part of a ‘Holy Trinity’ alongside George Best and Bobby Charlton at Old Trafford and remains United’s third-highest goal-scorer with 237 goals.

Paul Gascoigne (Lazio)

Gascoigne first caught Italian eyes by starring for England at the 1990 World Cup, capturing hearts with his tears in the semi-final against West Germany after receiving a booking that would have kept him out of the final. He was due to join Lazio in 1991, but the transfer was delayed by a year after he suffered a serious knee injury playing for Tottenham Hotspur against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup final. The madcap ‘Gazza’ endeared himself to Lazio’s fans with an 89th-minute equaliser against hated city rivals Roma in his first season. But injuries prevented him making a sustained impact and he returned to Britain with Rangers in 1995.

Ashley Cole (Roma)

Following eight glittering seasons at Chelsea, former England left-back Cole surprisingly pitched up at Roma in 2014. He was praised in Britain for seeking to broaden his horizons, but the move proved a disaster. The early signs were ominous, with Cole mocked on social media after a photograph showed him lurking conspicuously on the edge of a squad photo during pre-season. He played 11 league games in his first season, none in his second and had his contract terminated by mutual consent in January this year after just 18 months.

US Open 2016: Bracket, schedule and scores for men"s draw

http://i1.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/usa-today-9432789.0.jpg?fit=640%2C426

Can Novak Djokovic recover from an early Olympics exit by taking the US Open?

Andy Murray came out on top at the recent Rio Olympics, prevailing in the gold medal match over Juan Martin Del Potro. That makes two singles gold medals in a row for Murray, who also won at the London 2012 Olympics. Del Potro took bronze in those games, and was a surprise contender in this year"s Games.

Del Potro shocked everyone when he upset Novak Djokovic, the top seed, in the opening round in Rio and went on all the way to the final, dropping Rafael Nadal along the way. Now Del Potro will enter the US Open unseeded, fresh off a silver medal win and playing some of the best tennis of his career. Can he continue his run, and maybe put up something close to 2009, when he won the tournament?

Murray is the second seed, and he once again has to consider the chance of meeting Djokovic in the finals, though that"s a long way off yet. Nadal is also in the tournament and in the discussion, while Roger Federer is unfortunately not participating. Federer is missing the US Open for the first time since 1999.

How the US Open will shake out is anybody"s guess. So many players are playing great tennis right now and it should be a good one. Below, we will have an updated bracket and schedule throughout the tournament. Television coverage will be carried by ESPN and ESPN2, with live streams available via WatchESPN.

How The Hyper-Realistic ‘NBA 2K17’ Showcases The Importance Of Your Stick Skills

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/nba-2k.jpg?fit=640%2C354

The last few years of NBA 2K releases have seen a vast improvement in the storytelling feature of the game. On top of those developments, the graphics and the various packages and modes you can unlock off the court have combined to turn the yearly release into the most popular and immersive basketball video game of all time. It’s all anyone is talking about a couple months before the real season tips off, except this year’s release was a little different.

Rather than focus more energy on the peripheral nuance that goes into providing context and realistic narratives around the game, the 2K developers spent more time on how it feels to play a game of basketball with a standard XBOX or PlayStation controller. Lucky for us, we got a chance to try out NBA 2K17 during a demonstration of the game in New York last week with senior developer Rob Jones.

The emphasis on gameplay this year is not to say previous iterations of NBA 2K didn’t already feature impressive achievements on the court, especially last year’s introductions of “freelance offense” for certain big-name teams who play a certain style: high picks involving Steph Curry and Draymond Green, low-post isolations for LeBron James, “Hammer” sets with the Spurs, etc. all included the various off-the-ball movements of a player’s teammates during those plays. The realism was real, but while these on-court improvements have given basketball junkies one more thing to nerd out about when they’re playing the game, there’s always room for improvement. For NBA 2K17, those ad hoc movements now borrow plays and actions from every NBA team, not just the most popular ones. There’s a lot more than that in the new release, too.

Steph Curry’s streak to begin the 2015-16 season — when the Warriors started 24-0 and Steph had locked up his second consecutive MVP in February — had been a problem. The simple version of what happened: his scorching shooting broke the game. Multiple times throughout our demo, when both Rob and myself were playing with the Knicks, the computer would have Steph pull up from 30-plus feet after a high screen and rip twine. Sure, there were a couple of misses, but with Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant drawing attention, you couldn’t do anything about it. This was a video game that felt like a video game, but mirrored real life. That might sound like a metaphysical head-scratcher, but that’s what happens when you’re attempting verisimilitude in the epoch of Steph.

2K

This year, the on-court development isn’t limited to updated player ratings or Steph’s aforementioned outrageous range — that’s, ironically, a more realistic look at his shooting ability. No, NBA 2K17 is more about how well you can manipulate your player with the joystick. You’re not just moving your player into the general vicinity of the basket, but you’re actually controlling how they finish a play.

“One of the things that we started talking about was giving control back and really putting the measure of your success under your control,” Rob told us before we started to play. “Like, literally under your stick skill decisions that you’re actually making.”

Let’s get a little more granular as a way to explain. Back in NBA 2K7, they introduced signature jump shots. After that, every player got a signature attribute that was specific to their play. Only certain guys could do certain moves. I joked that they had to preprogrammed the 100 jab steps Carmelo Anthony does at the elbow before pulling up for his mid-range jumper.

But as Jones explained, once those signature moves “became the standard, we started elevating it to how the AI (artificial intelligence) processes that particular player’s decisions.”

It opened up a whole new set of what Rob called “mini animations.” You know what those are; it’s when you’ve steered a player into a position, hit one button and they launch into their pre-made move. But you, the user, don’t have the ability to circumvent that animation to change the move, either, or add to it, or just totally flip it. That’s the biggest thing changing in 2K17.

“Let’s say you start this little cool move and you want to break out at that moment in time,” Jones says. “The animation had launched and there were specific branch points where you could get out, but as a user, you wanna get out when you want to get out. This year, we took all of that — what we felt like — canned stuff and was (sic) like look: ‘as a user, you can still recreate it.’ The animations that make up that guy’s dribble package, are signature. But if you wanna create that situation that he specifically does, it’s on your stick skills.”

That emphasis on a user’s “stick skills,” specifically how they’re able to move their player in a fashion similar to how they would in real life, is now augmented. You are controlling all of the player’s movements instead of just most of them. There’s no jumping off point where you’re left the manipulations of what they’ve already programmed for that player at that time in the game.

“Going to the basket, we never had full control over ‘hey, I wanna finish going around you to the left, or I wanna finish going around you to the right. Or I want to go right through you. Or I want to finish with my left hand even though I’m on the right side.’” Rob said. “A lot of this control is what we’re giving you this year.”

That’s not all. Shooting has also become something a user has more control over.

“We’re making it where your release time is sensitive,” said Rob.

Most games only do release stuff on jump shots. Jones compared it to pulling a bow and arrow: you pull it back to the right tension and then release it. That release timing has always been there for NBA 2K jump shots, but now they’ve added aim, so “you can actually aim left-right on the shots.”

This is all very smooth, though. Throughout Rob’s entire explanation, I kept mentioning how complicated this all sounded. Just playing basketball in real life, players are inundated with a multitude of variables they have to take into account before making their next decision with the ball or where they want to stand, even. But, even for a relative (at least to our readers) plebe at 2K, this increased player agency all fit into the flow of the game. You’re not second-guessing your on-court decisions as much as you might think. Even those who are new to the game.

For example, I was able to throw a pocket pass to Joakim Noah at one point after a screen on the right side, and his shot fake and pivot into a left-handed layup on the opposite side of the basket looked and felt instinctual. Before, it probably would have gone into a pre-made animation. This happened within scope of the game, even though I couldn’t tell you exactly what I did with the sticks. Anyone who has ever played 2K will be able to differentiate the improved game play right from the tip.

2K

The best part about basketball is the flow. At its pinnacle — like the regular season ’15-’16 Warriors, or the Spurs in the 2014 Finals — the offensive flow in basketball is like a carefully orchestrated symphony concerto crescendoing into a made basket. Now 2K has made that flow even more pronounced. You’re not getting stuck in seemingly anachronistic synthetic animations that can take away from the back-and-forth battles the best 2K matchups produce.

As Rob summed it up, “Now every player has full control over what he (she) sees.”

WATCH: Daniel Bryan Explains The Miz Argument on ‘Talking Smack’

http://i2.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/daniel_bryan_bio-e1472221600191.jpg?fit=200%2C112

On Talking Smack tonight, SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan apologized for his behavior during last week’s episode.

A Talking Smack fight between The Miz and Daniel Bryan blew up last week, and it became a major part of the SmackDown storyline on August 30th, with the clip being played in full at the start of the show and with Shane McMahon scolding Bryan for his unprofessional behavior. Bryan had accused The Miz of being a coward, which really set him off and lead to a passionate rant.

At the top of August 30th’s Talking Smack, then, Daniel Bryan offered a bit of an apology, particularly to Renee Young for storming off the show eight minutes before it was set to end. Bryan said that when he got up, it wasn’t because he wanted to punch The Miz; it’s that he was saddened by what The Miz said because it was right. Bryan made it clear that in reality, he is genuinely sad that he can never wrestle again due to his injuries.

Finally, Bryan went on to say that the WWE management decided to keep Bryan and The Miz separate after their confrontation, which explains why they did not interact at all during SmackDown this week. Strangely, the WWE promoted on social media that Daniel Bryan would be addressing the Miz feud on SmackDown, which did not end up occurring.

In the immediate aftermath of The Miz’s rant last week, it was somewhat unclear whether this was a work or a shoot. But it has become increasingly obvious that this is all a part of a SmackDown storyline, even if the wording of The Miz’s rant itself may have been improvised. Tonight’s SmackDown couldn’t quite match the insanity of Monday Night Raw, but it was still a well-received episode overall, featuring progress on several major storylines.

The main event saw a match between Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin, but we also saw a few more matches in the Tag Team Championship tournament, including one against The Hype Bros and the returning Headbangers, and another during which Heath Slater and Rhyno actually advanced to the next round.

Here are some of the best reactions and memes from throughout the show, presented in the order that they occurred.
