NFL Recap For Week One

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The NFL season kicked off last Thursday and there were several nail-biting games and some top performances from first-time starting play callers. Here"s a look at what happened this week.

Carolina at Denver: The Broncos score 14 in the fourth to defeat the Panthers, 21-20. C.J. Anderson lead the way for the Broncos with 92 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown. Cam Newton was under constant attack and sustained several questionable hits that could have resulted in penalties but did not.

Green Bay and Jacksonville: The Jaguars put up a tough fight, but the Packers squeaked by with a 27-23 win. Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes in the win, while Blake Bortles passed for 320 yards in the loss.

Buffalo at Baltimore: In a defensive battle, the Ravens edged the Bills 13-7 behind 258 passing yards and a touchdown by Joe Flacco.

Chicago at Houston: The Bears lead 14-10 at the half before the Texans dominated, defeating the Bears by the score of 23-14. Brock Osweiler threw for two touchdowns, while Lamar Miller rushed for 106 yards in the win.

Cleveland at Philadelphia: Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz was impressive in his NFL debut, throwing for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Matthews had 114 receiving yards and Ryan Matthews added 77 on the ground in a 29-10 Eagles win.

Tampa Bay at Atlanta: Matt Ryan threw for 334 yards and two touchdown for the Falcons. It wasn"t enough, as Jameis Winston threw for four touchdowns in a 31-24 win for the Buccaneers.

Minnesota at Tennessee: The Vikings turned a 10-0 halftime deficit into a 25-16 win. Eric Kendricks scored on a 77-yard interception return and Blair Walsh added four field goals in the win.

Cincinnati at New York Jets: In a tight game throughout, Andy Dalton lead the Bengals with 366 passing yards and a touchdown in a 23-22 win. Matt Forte rushed for 96 yards for the Jets.

Oakland at New Orleans: In a wild shootout, Derek Carr threw for 319 yards and a touchdown. The Radiers added 164 yards on the ground and three touchdowns in a 35-34 win. Drew Brees was stellar in the defeat, throwing for 423 yards and four touchdowns.

San Diego at Kansas City. The Chiefs got into a 21-3 hole at halftime, but battled back to win in overtime, 33-27. Alex Smith lead the Chiefs with 363 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Miami at Seattle: Miami held a 10-6 lead late in the fourth quarter before Russell Wilson hit Doug Baldwin for a 2-yard touchdown pass with 31 seconds to play. Seattle won the game, 12-10.

Detoit at Indianapolis: The Lions defeated the Colts on a late field goal by Matt Prater by the score of 39-35. The shootout saw 7 comibned touchdown passes and 725 yards by Matthew Stafford and Andrew Luck.

New York Giants at Dallas: In a typical tight NFC East battle, the Giants held on to defeat the Cowboys, 20-19. Dallas had a chance for a long game winning field goal but time ran out. Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes for the Giants, while Dak Prescott threw for 227 yards in the loss.

Jimmy Garoppolo made his first start and threw for 264 yards and a touchdown. The Cardinals had an opportunity to win, but missed a last second field goal.

Pittsburgh at Washington: The Redskins got out to a 6-0 lead ,but it was all Steelers afterward. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns, while DeAngelo Willams added two scores and 143 yards on the ground. The Steelers ran away with the game, 38-16.

Los Angeles at San Francisco: The 49ers dominated on both sides of the ball, allowing just 186 yards in a 28-0 win over the Rams. Carlos Hyde rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns in the win.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
