Leonard Fournette

LSU All-American running back Leonard Fournette has apologized for a video that showed him slap boxing a teammate.

Fournette posted the apology to his Twitter account after video surfaced on Wednesday appearing to show him in a street fight with LSU offensive lineman Garrett Brumfield. Fournette insisted, however, that they were not fighting but instead were engaging in a friendly game of slap boxing.

The video was somewhat frightening because it looked like a couple punches were being thrown with some real intent, but ultimately it was all much ado about nothing.

LSU Associate Athletic Director of Communications Michael Bonnette also downplayed any concerns, telling TMZ Sports that it was simply “a game where they basically have to touch the other person twice,” and that “what you don’t see is when the video cuts off, they hug it out. They’re not mad at each other. No one was injured.”

The 21-year-old Fournette is the one of the top running backs in the nation and the crown jewel of LSU Football (as plays like this will demonstrate). As such, hopefully he can keep the horseplay to a minimum in the future.
