By now, most of you know that Carson Wentz has been named the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. What you may not know, however, is that the rookie has a great sense of humor.

When Wentz was a freshman at North Dakota State back in 2011, he and two friends made a trick shot video when trick shot videos were all the rage. The one Wentz starred in involved throwing crumpled up pieces of paper into a waste basket. Only, something felt a bit off about it…

Never mind, it looked real to me. Those guys are good.

If Wentz gets bored of trying to turn the recent misfortunes of the Eagles around, we know another quarterback who would love to challenge him.

Dwyane Wade’s Cousin Was Fatally Shot in Chicago

Dwyane Wade has been outspoken this summer about putting an end to the senseless gun violence across America.

Wade famously opened the ESPYs last month alongside LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony with a speech in which he said, “The endless gun violence in places like Chicago, Dallas, not to mention Orlando—it has to stop. Enough is enough.”

On Friday, the gun violence epidemic reared its ugly head once again.

Wade’s 32-year-old first cousin, Nykea Aldridge, was shot and killed while pushing her newborn baby in a stroller on Chicago’s South Side.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Aldridge, a mother of four children, was an innocent bystander and not the intended victim.

Nykea Aldridge, 32, and a man were walking in the 6300 block of South Calumet Avenue about 3:30 p.m. when two men approached and someone began firing at the man, authorities and the family spokesman said.

 

Aldridge was hit in the head and the arm and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she died, police said. The baby was not hurt, and a relative came to the scene and took the child, police said.

Less than 24 hours before the shooting, D-Wade participated in an ESPN town hall on athletes, social responsibility and gun violence held at a South Side YMCA.

Wade talked about his own experiences with gun violence and growing up in inner city Chicago.

Our condolences go out to Wade and his family during this difficult time.

Olympics 2016: Team USA"s Ryan Crouser wins gold in men"s shot put

The Americans finished 1-2 in the shot put.

Ryan Crouser can throw an iron ball farther than anyone else. He threw the 16-pound shot put an Olympic record 22.52 meters (73"10.75) to win Olympic gold in thrilling fashion on Thursday in Rio.

Crouser couldn"t contain his excitement after his Olympic record throw. He held his arms high in victory for moments after the throw.

Joe Kovacs of the U.S. finished in the silver medal position with a throw of 21.78 meters -- a throw that would have won many Olympic titles. Tomas Walsh of New Zealand won bronze with a throw of 21.36 meters.

Tomasz Majewski of Poland won the last two golds in shot put, in 2008 and 2012. In London he won with a throw of 21.89 meters, which beat out Germany"s David Storl (21.86 meters) and the U.S."s Reese Hoffa (21.23 meters). He finished sixth this time around.

Crouser and Kovacs continued a strong U.S. tradition in the shot put. Team USA has medaled every year since 1984, and Adam Nelson (2004), Randy Barnes (1996) and Mike Stulce (1992) are all recent Olympic champions.

Crouser was a world junior champion in 2009 -- and he won a silver in the discus -- but hadn"t won a medal as a senior competitor until Thursday.
