Stephen Strasburg not sure if he will be ready for playoffs

Stephen Strasburg

Stephen Strasburg is unsure if he will be able to pitch in the postseason if the Washington Nationals receive a playoff berth as they’re projected to do.

Strasburg left his last start in the third inning after feeling a pinch in his elbow. The game was his first back after being on the disabled list with an elbow injury.

Strasburg received a plasma injection on Friday and will have another doctor examine his MRI.

The confluence of uncertainty surrounding Strasburg’s status has him unsure if he will be able to return for the playoffs.

The Nationals entered play on Saturday with an 83-58 record, which leads the NL East by eight games. So far the team has termed Strasburg’s injury as a strained flexor mass.

Stephen Jackson On His Comeback: ‘NBA Or Nothing, Man’

http://i2.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/stephen-jackson-on-his-comeback.jpg?fit=480%2C360

Stephen Jackson has been one of the more enigmatic players of the last 15 years. After heading to Oak Hill for his senior year of high school, Jackson went to Butler Community College of El Dorado in Kansas but was deemed ineligible and jumped to the League in 1997 without ever playing a college game. He bounced around overseas before solidifying himself in the NBA, eventually scoring 20 a night for three consecutive seasons. Captain Jack is also infamously known for the ‘Malice at the Palace’ and more recently getting into it with Steve Francis at a Houston club. Now, after two years out of the NBA, he is making a legit attempt to land back on a roster and physically looks the part.

While at the Ludaday game in ATL, where he played with the likes of Dwight Howard and Lou Williams, we talked to Stak5 about his comeback attempt, what he can bring to a team and if he is considering other options if the League does not work out. Check it:

SLAM: What’s the grind been like for during this comeback attempt?

Stephen Jackson: My whole career, I’ve never had no serious injuries or no surgeries. These last seven months, I’ve been doing two-a-days to get ready. I know I have a good two years left and hopefully I can help somebody.

SLAM: You’ve been a fixture down here in Atlanta lately. Why here and not back home in Texas?

SJ: I’ve been living here most of the time since I played for the Hawks. I’ve been here for around 10 years and I moved out to Alpharetta for my two-a-days, so I’m feeling good.

SLAM: Have you considered the D-League or possibly going overseas? Or is it NBA or bust?

SJ: NBA or nothing, man. I don’t need the money. I just want to give back to the game. Anything else is a step down, so I just want to give the NBA a shot.

SLAM: After having a couple of years away from the game, what made you all of a sudden decide to try to get back to the League?

SJ: I’ve been been playing basketball at a high level and my body feels great. I got calls from different coaches who have seen me work out and they know I can still play. I’ve got two years left, so why not give it back to the game?

SLAM: The younger generation knows you more for the Steve Francis incident than they do for your game itself. Is that part of the reason that you want to get back on the court?

SJ: The thing is, I’m one of those rare competitors in everything I do. Guys don’t compete as well as they used to. I’m one of those rare competitors who care about locking down on defense and doing what I’m supposed to do.

Stephen Curry motivated by re-watching Game 7, laughs at Warriors being villains

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/steph-curry.jpg?fit=600%2C372

Steph Curry

Stephen Curry is ready and motivated for next season thanks to a viewing of Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Curry told Darren Rovell of ESPN that he’d only recently watched the game back for the first time.

“I was a little mad at myself and getting back into the grind of working out for next season,” Curry said Saturday, while on an Under Armour-sponsored tour of Asia. “I think it was a good motivator to get back into the gym and keep working.

“I wasn’t 100 percent, but who cares? I was playing. I was out there trying to help my team win and that’s all that really matters. I’ve taken advantage of the summer to get right and I still have a little bit of work to go.”

Curry is amused by the narrative of the Warriors being villains.

“I kind of laugh at that,” Curry said. “Obviously how the Finals ended [and] what happened, that’s sports. That’s what you love about it. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything. Obviously it stinks to not win, but playing for a championship for two years in a row has been an amazing, amazing journey and I don’t think it’s over.

“All that narrative around our team, how people view us, doesn’t really matter to us. We are who we are and we’re championship contenders going forward.”

He’s not worried about pressure, though, feeling that last season was as pressure-filled as it could get.

“I honestly don’t think there could be any more pressure than we had last year,” Curry said. “Coming off a championship, winning 73 games and being expected to win another [title], obviously it didn’t happen. It’s going to be a different vibe because it’s a different team and different dynamics with different players with KD joining us. … We have probably six or seven new guys.”

The cautions have been made that Golden State will need some time to adjust. However, they’re going to be really talented and really motivated after last season’s NBA Finals, which is probably a bad combination for the rest of the league.

CJ McCollum doesn’t think Stephen Curry can guard him

http://i1.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/cj-mccollum-doesnt-think-stephen.jpg?fit=640%2C360

Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum doesn’t let anything stand in his way, not even a unanimous MVP.

Hosting an impromptu Q&A on Twitter Tuesday night, McCollum was asked if he thinks Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry can guard him. McCollum’s answer was brief and blunt.

The reigning NBA Most Improved Player doesn’t seem to be just blowing smoke either. Though he has improved over the years, Curry has never had the strongest track record as a one-on-one defender. Even if he finished sixth amongst point guards in defensive real plus-minus last season (per ESPN), Curry is aided by the lengthy, versatile support provided by his teammates from within the Golden State defensive structure. There, he is often afforded the luxury of being hidden on the other team’s weakest offensive threat. Curry can definitely make a play on the ball every now and then with his quick hands and strong anticipatory instincts. But his weaknesses on the defensive end were really exposed in this year’s NBA Finals when the Cavaliers found a great deal of success by relentlessly attacking him on switches.

For McCollum’s part, he is quickly developing a reputation as one of the Association’s better guards at breaking down a defender with his handle and creating separation for a shot off the dribble. McCollum’s assertion about himself and Curry passes the eye test with flying colors as well.

The confidence of McCollum, who has already taken umbridge to the Warriors in the past, certainly isn’t lacking, and that will be important for the Blazers if they hope to remain competitive in the Darwinistic Western Conference.

After a brief hiatus, Brandon Armstrong (BdotAdot5) is back with a new video. This time, Armstrong takes on Steph Curry and does a pretty flawless impersonation of the reigning MVP.

The viral star nails Curry’s eccentricities–from a mouthpiece dangling out of his mouth, to his post-shot theatrics–while his boy FamousLos plays the part of Klay Thompson.

Peep the vid above.

Stephen Tulloch reportedly signing with Eagles

http://i1.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/stephen-tulloch-1.jpg?fit=600%2C399

Linebacker Stephen Tulloch has reportedly agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tulloch’s deal is reportedly with $ 3 million, with $ 1.75 million of it guaranteed.

The move reunites Tulloch with Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who was his defensive coordinator in Tennessee and then recruited him to Detroit when he became head coach of the Lions. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that these two sides decided to come to an agreement. The links between the two sides have existed virtually ever since Schwartz became the team’s defensive coordinator.

Perhaps the best news for Tulloch? Now that he no longer shares a division with Aaron Rodgers, he hopefully won’t be tempted to do the discount double check move anymore.

Eagles, Stephen Tulloch reportedly in heavy negotiations

http://i2.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/stephen-tulloch.jpg?fit=600%2C399

The Philadelphia Eagles may be close to shoring up their linebacker unit.

According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN on Sunday, the Eagles are in heavy negotiations with ex-Detroit Lion Stephen Tulloch.

Tulloch, 31, recorded 107 combined tackles for the Lions in 2015. He probably is no longer an every-down linebacker at this stage of his career but would represent serviceable depth in the middle of the field behind Mychael Kendricks, Jordan Hicks, and Nigel Bradham.

Though Tulloch is probably best known for one of the most embarrassing and unfortunate celebration injuries of all-time, he could still be useful as a situational tackle magnet for an Eagles squad coming off a season in which they gave up the third-most total yards in the NFL.

Stephen Curry’s game-used mouthguard up for auction

http://i2.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Stephen-Curry-mouthguard.jpg?fit=600%2C448

Stephen-Curry-mouthguard

Collectors will buy just about anything that could in some way be considered valuable. Apparently that includes an object that has been slobbered and chewed on for at least 40 or so minutes of intense, sweaty game action.

Currently for sale at SCP Auctions is an official mouthguard that Stephen Curry wore during a game last season. As the item description notes, Curry is known for basically chewing his mouthguard the entire game while raining three-pointers. If that turns you on, the bidding starts at $ 1,500.

Here’s more:

Offered for the first time publicly is one of Steph’s game-used (i.e. game-chewed) mouthguards from his special 2015-16 season. The flexible rubber mouthguard is custom-made to fit Curry’s teeth. It is specially-designed with the Golden State Warriors logo on the left and “#30 CURRY” on both sides built into the molded material. Curry’s bite marks are evident. Thankfully, it was presented to us washed and clean from what we can tell. I’m sure there are a couple fans and collectors out there who wouldn’t even mind a little Steph saliva! It comes in a gray mouthguard case with “CURRY” taped on the outside.

The mouthpiece was acquired by the consignor after a December road game. His seats were close to the Warriors bench and apparently it was left behind under one of the team’s courtside chairs after the game. Perhaps it had fallen out of the trainer’s bag.

Shockingly, there have been no bids as of writing this post. The item will be for sale for more than two weeks.

We have seen some bizarre items sell at auction in the past, but this is easily one of the more disgusting ones. I can think of better ways to spend $ 1,500, that’s for sure.
