Kliff Kingsbury shares hilarious story about why he went into coaching

Kliff Kingsbury

Kliff Kingsbury has had so much success at Texas Tech at such a young age that you probably would figure he’s a natural who knew he was going into coaching his entire life. But that’s not at all the case.

In fact, Kingsbury recently revealed the reason he went into coaching in the first place, and it’s a pretty funny one.

Kingsbury, who played at Texas Tech, played three seasons in the NFL and then two in the CFL before calling it a career in 2007. At that point he was thinking of going back to school to get his MBA or accepting a coaching offer.

In a cover story about Kingsbury for Lubbock Magazine, Don Williams shared what swayed the Red Raiders legend towards coaching.

$ 1,500 in parking tickets? Yeah, that’s a lot of money. And it’s pretty safe to say that Kingsbury didn’t need a master’s degree to make the correct business decision.

The Red Raiders have gone 19-19 in three seasons under Kingsbury, including 1-1 in bowl games. At 37, he is one of the youngest coaches in college football, and also one of the more humorous ones too.

Paul George looks for someone to take empty cup in hilarious video

The USA men’s basketball team may be staying on a cruise ship in Rio while other athletes are slumming it in the Olympic village, but that doesn’t mean the players are afforded all of the same luxuries that they would be in the NBA.

Paul George learned that in hilarious fashion during Team USA’s win over Venezuela Monday night. Check out this video:

You’re not in Indiana anymore, Paul. In Rio, no one is around to take your empty drink cup after you down a quick refreshment. Believe it or not, you have to dispose of your own garbage. Other athletes are dealing with indoor stairwells that have waterfalls flowing down them, so it could be worse.

During Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United testimonial last night, the game was heading for a dull 0-0 draw.

It did end that way, but Memphis Depay attempted to steal the show in the 90th minute with a spectacular overhead kick.

It was the type of effort that you’d associate with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as Ander Herrera’s cross floated towards him, the Dutchman’s eyes lit up as he envisaged smashing it into the net for a last gasp winner.

But this is Memphis Depay we’re talking about, and when you’ve done literally nothing since moving from PSV a year ago, it never works out quite how you want it to.

Rooney and his son Kai couldn’t handle their emotions, as they burst into laughter on the United bench.

Check it out:

Poor Memphis, even Kai would have had a better chance of connecting with that.

My favourite part of this is how pissed off six-year-old Kai looks that the winger hasn’t done better.

Shame on you, Memphis.
