Cristiano Ronaldo Playing Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul At Poker Is Epic

Cristiano Ronaldo Playing Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul At Poker Is Epic

Poker FB 1

Cristiano Ronaldo is a man with more than a few quid to spare, and given he’s injured at the minute, he doubles as a man with a bit of spare time on his hands.

When the common person like you or me gets a few quid and some spare time, it usually ends up with a dirty kebab after numerous pints and an Uber home at silly o’clock in the morning.

But this is Ronaldo, and he decided to take on Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul in a charity poker match, with the small matter of £15,000 at stake.

The Real Madrid star, who has enjoyed arguably the best year of his career in terms of trophies, winning both the Champions League and Euro 2016, was playing for the Right To Play charity, while Paul was trying to win the cash for Save The Children.

Check it out:

And, because he basically wins anything he tries his hand at, Ronaldo claimed the cash, leaving Paul wishing he had some kind of help from Walter White/Heisenberg to help him out.

With the Brazilian Ronaldo also a keen poker player, maybe the next clash needs to be Ronaldo vs Ronaldo, to see who the true poker king is.

YEAH, POKER BITCH! (Apologies if you’ve never seen Breaking Bad).

Paul Pogba And Eric Bailly’s Bromance Is Life Goals

Manchester United have been busy in the transfer market, and it’s clearly paying off.

They’ve won their first two games in the Premier League, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has bagged four goals already, and they have one of the best footballing bromances blossoming before their very eyes.

Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba have only known each other a matter of weeks, and already they have a friendship that most of us can only dream of.

They have a secret handshake:

And it’s not only after a comfortable 2-0 win that they’re enjoying each other’s company, as they were captured laughing and joking as they arrived for training with United:

Good vibes! #MUFC

A video posted by Manchester United (@manchesterunited) on Aug 23, 2016 at 8:57am PDT

I can’t help but feel sorry for Anthony Martial in this clip, as he looks like a total third wheel when the bromance is in full swing behind him.

Maybe he’s still hurting from losing the number nine shirt to Zlatan? Or maybe he’s just wishing he was cool enough to form a friendship like ‘Pogbailly’ as I’m now christening it.

The mood around United has clearly taken an upwards turn since Louis van Gaal left, which is understandable as training drills now include the rarely seen ‘pass it forward’ technique.

And it’s obviously had an effect on the squad relationships, although it’d be nice if Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones didn’t follow suit.

Paul George looks for someone to take empty cup in hilarious video

The USA men’s basketball team may be staying on a cruise ship in Rio while other athletes are slumming it in the Olympic village, but that doesn’t mean the players are afforded all of the same luxuries that they would be in the NBA.

Paul George learned that in hilarious fashion during Team USA’s win over Venezuela Monday night. Check out this video:

You’re not in Indiana anymore, Paul. In Rio, no one is around to take your empty drink cup after you down a quick refreshment. Believe it or not, you have to dispose of your own garbage. Other athletes are dealing with indoor stairwells that have waterfalls flowing down them, so it could be worse.

Paul George’s 20 Points Leads Team USA to a 113-69 Victory Over Venezuela

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/GettyImages-587472326.jpg?fit=640%2C427

In their second preliminary matchup of the 2016 Olympics, Team USA found a way to overcome an extremely slow start, with too many turnovers, en route to a 44-point win.

There were five ties through the game’s first quarter, with an 18-18 tie after one. Venezuela was very successful in slowing the Americans scorching hot pace. Kobe Bryant‘s 35-year-old cousin, John Cox, scored 7 of Venezuela’s first 9 points and helped to establish a halfcourt, foul-and-turnover-filled first 15 minutes. At one point, the Americans had 9 field goals, 8 turnovers and 7 assists.

With his squad up 28-22, Carmelo Anthony stripped Venezuelan big man Gregory Echenique and hit a big three-ball in transition to start to break the game open. Anthony and Kevin Durant took care of the scoring in the first half–11 and 10 points for each of them–while Jimmy Butler and DeAndre Jordan injected some much needed energy into the Americans. They were a major reason the Americans outscored the Venezuelans 30-8 in the second quarter.

Paul George scored 12 of his 20 points in the second half. He got buckets in bunches and provided the exclamation point with a big dunk in the closing moments of the fourth.

Cox led Venezuela in scoring with 19. Team USA finished with 24 assists and 11 turnovers. At the start of the third, they stopped settling for jumpers and began bulldozing their way to the rim. With the lead in the high 30s in the fourth, Coach Mike Krzyzewski experimented with a small lineup of George, Butler, DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry and Harrison Barnes, which could be something to keep an eye on.

George and the Americans are back in action on Wednesday night, at 6 EST, against Australia.

Paul Pogba Returns To Old Trafford, Internet Breaks

pogbb

It’s been the story of the summer, and one that has dominated the transfer window.

Despite basically knowing for weeks now, it took until the 9th of August for Manchester United to officially announce their capture of Paul Pogba.

The club decided to officially announce it at an ungodly hour, but of course Twitter was still on form.

Here’s how people reacted:

Here’s his first official interview..

Complete with a selfie of course..

Maybe a bit of an overreaction..

Ok mate..

All the feels..

Absolute banter..

BREAKING: Paul Pogba Saga Nearly Complete After Key Event

BREAKING: Paul Pogba Saga Nearly Complete After Key Event

It’s the transfer saga that’s taken over the gossip columns of every publication this summer, but it could finally be over very soon.

Paul Pogba’s £100m transfer from Juventus to Manchester United is nearing completion, after Manchester United confirmed Juventus have given Pogba permission to undergo a medical.

The two clubs have been locked in talks for over two months (although it seems like much, much longer), and personal terms were agreed weeks ago, with the fee the sticking point.

Pogba Dab Getty 1Getty

United were originally holding out for a fee closer to £90m (bargain, right?), but now seem to have settled on a world record £100m price.

Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, also threatened the deal as he wanted 25% of any transfer as his fee, but that seems to have been sorted as he heads straight for the Ferrari dealership.

United beat Leicester in the Community Shield this afternoon, and confirmation of Pogba’s return to the club that ditched him four years ago could break at any time.

Pogba Man U GettyGetty

Jose Mourinho has said that he wants his transfer business done by the start of the season, meaning the 23-year-old is likely to be the last of his acquisitions.

Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have all signed this summer, and Jose sees Pogba as the final piece in his puzzle.

Thank God it’s almost over, bring on the season!

Paul George wants meeting with French gymnast who broke leg

Everyone following the Olympics felt for gymnast Samir Ait Said, the French athlete who broke his leg during a routine. It’s fair to say, though, that few understood what Said was going through quite like Team USA’s Paul George.

George, who famously broke his leg during a USA Basketball scrimmage two years ago, wants to meet with Said, according to a USA basketball spokesperson.

Spokesperson Craig Miller told USA Today’s Jeff Zillgitt that a potential meeting was George’s idea. It’s unclear if and when it will happen, however, as Said, who is recovering from surgery, was not accepting visitors as of Sunday afternoon.

George has been able to recover from his injury and come back strong. Given that Said’s injury was similarly gruesome (video here, though be warned of the graphic content), a message from George might help him a lot. Hopefully something can be arranged.

Lavoy Allen trolls Paul George over getting crossed up against China

During a comfortable victory by the United States men’s basketball team over China in their opening game of the Rio Olympics, Paul George was the victim of a crossover by Zhao Jiwei that sent the Pacers star to the floor. The following day, one of George’s teammates in Indiana had jokes.

Lavoy Allen took to his Twitter account on Sunday saying he was going to start up a collection so George’s ankles can be laid to rest.

In case you’re wondering if George had a response, he did. The three-time NBA All-Star made use of the middle finger emoji.

After the game, George denied getting crossed up and gave his side of the story. You can see what he said here. I don’t think Lavoy Allen is buying it.

Paul George denies getting crossed in win over China, blames sneakers

http://i2.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/paul-george-team-usa.jpg?fit=600%2C453

USA Basketball cruised to a 119-62 victory over China in their first taste of official Olympic action on Saturday, but the win came at the expense of Paul George’s ankles.

With the game winding down in the fourth quarter, George got his ankles banished to the shadow realm with a quick crossover by Chinese guard Zhao Jiwei that sent him sprawling to the hardwood.

But after the game, George refused to acknowledge that he had been crossed, instead placing the blame squarely on his shoes for having too much grip.

Whatever you say, PG. Did the dog eat your homework too? Was your Twitter account hacked as well? But I suppose for George to even make his way back into Olympic competition again is commendable, so the three-time All-Star has probably earned himself a pass on this one.

Is This Paul George’s Signature Sneaker?

http://i0.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/paulgeorge1.jpg?fit=640%2C394

Paul George’s arrival as a superstar was clear as day when he got the cover of NBA 2K17. His new status crystalized even more with reports of the huge payday coming his way. The only thing left for Paul George to do was get a signature sneaker, which could be happening soon.

All indications are that the sneaker in the photo up top could be the All-Star’s very first silhouette.

Check out the flywire in the midfoot, a staple of recent Nike sneakers. The strap, which has been seen in the KD 7, Kyrie 2 and Soldier X recently, is also a modern Nike favorite. And of course PG’s logo on the tongue is also a pretty big clue.

Reports suggest these could be ready for retail by March 2017, if this is actually the PG1. Keep it locked for official confirmation on release dates and pricing.

Paul George and the Pacers Discussing an Extension

http://i1.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/paul-george.jpg?fit=640%2C426

The Indiana Pacers and Paul George have begun preliminary contract extension talks.

George, 26, inked a five-year, $ 90 million-plus max deal with Indy back in 2013.

The All-Star forward has recovered from a horrific leg injury, and is looking forward to helping lead Team USA in its quest for Olympic Gold this summer.

Per WHTR:

Of course he appreciates every moment. Could anybody possibly appreciate it any more than the Pacers’ star wing? Two years ago, he suffered that grisly leg injury that seemed to doom his chance of playing in these Games. Would he ever come back? Nobody knew. Nobody could hope to know. […] Credit team manager Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski for keeping George’s spirits high, placing that carrot in front of his face. After the injury, they visited George in his Las Vegas hospital room and told him this: “When you’re healthy again, there’s a spot for you on the 2016 team.”

For months – and months – George has talked freely about the injury, the comeback, the goal of the Olympics, so when the international media tried to ask about it once again here Thursday, he grimaced. He wasn’t rude about it; the affable George doesn’t do rude. But how many times can you answer the question? […] “Honestly, I haven’t even thought about it except when media asks,” he said. “At this point, it’s a closed chapter. I don’t even think about it.”

“You can tell he carries an aura about him now,” U.S. teammate Kyrie Irving recently told Michael Lee of The Vertical. “…I don’t know if he had it before. Sometimes, adversity can do that to you. And it has a way of shaping a person’s life like no other. None of us were there when he was going through rehab. None of us were here when he was in his bedroom alone, thinking about life, how he was going to get back. None of us were there when he was trying to figure out, what is the next step? That right there builds character. I can feel it. I can see it.” […] I asked George what he was doing at this time last year. “Two, three workouts a day,” he said. “On the track, on a field, a lot of running, a lot of explosive drills. It’s great to not have to go through that torture again. It was torture, for sure. I pushed my body to limits I didn’t think I could go.”

Michael Jordan, Chris Paul and Derek Fisher spent a whole afternoon disappointing children

http://i2.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/SAD_20KIDS.0.png?fit=640%2C426

Athletes giving things away to kids create some of the most heartwarming videos in sports. This week at Michael Jordan’s Flight School things went very, very wrong. Jordan was joined by Chris Paul and Derek Fisher to put on a shooting clinic for the kids and because it was Michael Jordan there were side bets.

Bet 1: If Chris Paul makes all his shots Jordan gives the kids shoes.

#Mj rules.. if CP3, makes all his shots... Shoes for the whole camp.. !#MjFlightSchool16

A video posted by COACH SPOON (@coachspoon2) on Jul 26, 2016 at 9:40pm PDT

Result: CP3 misses the last shot.

Bet 2: If Michael Jordan misses three of his shots he gives the kids shoes.

Result: Jordan nails all of them.

Bet 3: If Derek Fisher his all his considerably easier shots then Jordan will give the kids shoes.

#MJ rules... if D.Fish hits these shots.. Shoes for the whole camp.. #MjFlightSchool16

A video posted by COACH SPOON (@coachspoon2) on Jul 26, 2016 at 9:52pm PDT

Result: He misses a free throw.

On three occasions kids were excited thinking they might get new shoes. On all three occasions they were let down. There is no evidence that Flight School attendees actually got shoes after the shooting contest. Hopefully they did, because their hopes and dreams kept getting crushed.
