After already losing Malcom Floyd to retirement and Ladarius Green to free agency this offseason, Philip Rivers is now down another weapon.
According to a report by Michael Silver of NFL Network on Monday, Chargers wide receiver Stevie Johnson has a torn meniscus and will need surgery.
I"m told by a source familiar with Chargers WR Stevie Johnson"s knee injury that he has a torn meniscus & will have surgery soon @nflnetwork

The 30-year-old Johnson went down awkwardly after making a catch in practice on Sunday. Andrew Burer of The Mighty 1090 shared video of the play where Johnson was hurt.

The former Kentucky Wildcat caught 45 passes for 497 yards and three touchdowns for San Diego in 2015. He will receive a second opinion before undergoing surgery, and a return timetable will be determined after that point, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
#Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (meniscus) will get a 2nd opinion, then have surgery. The extent — weeks or months — will be known in surgery

Johnson is under contract through the 2017 season, and we can only hope that this injury doesn’t rob him of whatever explosiveness/playmaking ability he has left in the tank.
