Rams’ Aaron Donald ejected after scuffling with a 49er and making contact with a ref

Welcome football back to LA!

The Los Angeles Rams played their first game in over 20 years with a Monday Night Football matchup against the 49ers, and, while not existing was bad, their first game may have been worse. They lost 28-0, meaning the Los Angeles Rams still haven’t scored since 1994.

The Rams’ evening could easily be summed up in an outburst by star defensive lineman Aaron Donald with about five minutes to go. It started as officials gathered at the middle of the field to discuss a potential late hit penalty on Rams LB Alec Ogletree. Players gathered around to hear the discussion, and as they did, Donald grabbed 49ers WR Quinton Patton by the neck before shoving his helmet off.

Somewhere in the scuffle, Donald apparently made contact with an official. Cameras didn’t capture it, but the referees say it happened. Maybe he brushed somebody in that scuffle? Maybe a ref got hit, didn’t see who did it, and blamed it on Donald? Maybe the cameras just missed it? Whatever happened, the refs believed he made contact with an official, and that’s a foul that comes with an automatic ejection.

When he heard news of his ejection, Donald violently spiked his helmet at the field and screamed THAT’S BULLSHIT MAN. (Perhaps he didn’t believe he actually did hit a ref.)

The previous play had ended at the 38-yard line. Donald’s unnecessary roughness penalty cost LA 15 yards, putting the ball at the 23, and Donald’s unsportsmanlike conduct penalty pushed the ball half the distance to the goal, an additional 12 yards. All in all, Donald’s outburst cost LA 27 yards, and the 49ers scored another touchdown to make it 28-0 four plays later.

Donald will almost certainly be fined by the league office. He was violent toward another player, violent toward a ref, and over-the-top in the way he expressed his displeasure afterward. But on the plus side, he got to leave the game early.

Jalen Ramsey ‘not scared’ of Aaron Rodgers, challenges Packers to throw at him

Jalen Ramsey

Aaron Rodgers is probably going to the Hall of Fame one day. Jalen Ramsey is about to play his first regular season NFL game at cornerback. There’s a case to be made that both are about equally confident.

Ramsey is gearing up to face Rodgers and the Packer offense in his regular season debut, and he didn’t sound the least bit intimidated by the prospect. In fact, he essentially dared Rodgers to come at him.

“I’m not scared,” Ramsey said, via Mike DiRocco of ESPN. “Throw my way if you want to.”

In fact, Ramsey even mused briefly about picking Rodgers off, though he refused to get ahead of himself.

“It’d mean a lot to me,” he said of the prospect. “It’ll be my first NFL interception but that’s not really what I’m focused on right now. I’m just focused on doing what I can do for the team.”

Ramsey has never lacked for confidence. Remember some of the comments he made in the leadup to the NFL Draft? That confidence will be great for him, but he has to back it up on the field.

Josh Beckett: Red Sox made up injury to keep Aaron Cook from going to Yankees

http://i2.wp.com/www.truesportsfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Josh-Beckett.jpg?fit=600%2C340

Like many stars before him, Josh Beckett’s time with the Boston Red Sox came to an ugly end. The former starting pitcher was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 2012 season amid questions about his work ethic and attitude, many of which stemmed from the time Beckett was spotted golfing a day after the Red Sox announced he would miss a start due to injury.

The big problem with that perception, Beckett says, is that he was never actually injured. In an interview with the “Toucher and Rich Show” on 98.5 The Sports Hub Thursday, Beckett claimed the Red Sox made up a fake injury so they could call up pitcher Aaron Cook and prevent him from opting out of his contract.

“Aaron Cook had an opt-out in his contract, I was pitching terrible – which is my fault – so we made up an injury so that [the Red Sox] could call him up, so he didn’t opt out and go to the Yankees,” Beckett said. “That was a thing, but I don’t think that that’s actually legal to do. I don’t think you can just phantom DL somebody.”

Aaron Cook, really? Beckett was pitching horrible at the time. He went 5-11 with a 5.23 ERA with the Red Sox in 2012 before being traded to the Dodgers. Perhaps Boston felt that Cook would be a valuable piece in the rotation, though he finished the season 4-11 with a 5.65 ERA. And we all know how petty the Red Sox and Yankees can get with gamesmanship.

“That’s the whole thing that I had a problem with is that nobody really stood up, and that’s when I knew it was kind of the end [of my time in Boston],” Beckett added. “You don’t have anybody in the organization backing you either .. so that’s when I knew, this is what the end looks like.”

If Beckett’s story is true, the Red Sox allowed the public to believe he went golfing despite missing a start with lat and shoulder injuries. Maybe that had something to do with Beckett being one of the alleged ringleaders of all those infamous clubhouse antics the season before.

Cristiano Ronaldo Playing Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul At Poker Is Epic

Poker FB 1

Cristiano Ronaldo is a man with more than a few quid to spare, and given he’s injured at the minute, he doubles as a man with a bit of spare time on his hands.

When the common person like you or me gets a few quid and some spare time, it usually ends up with a dirty kebab after numerous pints and an Uber home at silly o’clock in the morning.

But this is Ronaldo, and he decided to take on Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul in a charity poker match, with the small matter of £15,000 at stake.

The Real Madrid star, who has enjoyed arguably the best year of his career in terms of trophies, winning both the Champions League and Euro 2016, was playing for the Right To Play charity, while Paul was trying to win the cash for Save The Children.

Check it out:

And, because he basically wins anything he tries his hand at, Ronaldo claimed the cash, leaving Paul wishing he had some kind of help from Walter White/Heisenberg to help him out.

With the Brazilian Ronaldo also a keen poker player, maybe the next clash needs to be Ronaldo vs Ronaldo, to see who the true poker king is.

YEAH, POKER BITCH! (Apologies if you’ve never seen Breaking Bad).
