Russell Wilson Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks grinded out a 12-10 Week 1 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but they didn’t emerge entirely unscathed.

According to a report by Bob Holtzman of ESPN, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is undergoing precautionary X-rays on his right ankle.

Chris Wesseling of Around the NFL adds that Wilson suffered the injury when Dolphins defensive tackle Ndakumong Suh (of all people) stepped on his heel.

Wilson did say after the game that, despite some soreness, he should be fine, per Curtis Crabtree of ProFootballTalk.

The fifth-year signal caller is known for his durability, having not missed a game since he was drafted in 2012. With a Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams looming, hopefully Wilson can pour some Recovery Water on the ankle and be ready to go.

Julio Jones

Julio Jones gave his fans a scare when he left Thursday night’s preseason game with an ankle injury.

Jones was termed questionable to return to the Atlanta Falcons’ game against the Miami Dolphins, but he was held out for the rest of the game as a precaution.

It sounds like the injury was not very serious.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn told NBC that Jones could have returned to the game if it were the regular season. Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan also did not seem worried about his top target.

“I think he’ll be OK,” Ryan said of Jones during an interview with NBC’s Michele Tafoya. “You never like seeing someone go down especially in the preseason, but I think he’s doing OK.”

Jones caught 136 passes for 1,871 yards and eight touchdowns last season and remains one of the most productive receivers in the league. Falcons fans can exhale knowing that Jones should be fine.

Kellen Moore broken ankle to Nick Foles rumors

Kellen Moore

The Dallas Cowboys could be in the market for a new backup quarterback after Kellen Moore suffered a broken ankle in practice on Tuesday.

Moore, who saw significant action in three games last season (starting two) for Dallas, was the team’s No. 2 quarterback behind Tony Romo. But the former Boise State QB suffered a broken left fibula, team owner Jerry Jones confirmed, putting Dallas down a man at the position already.

The Cowboys drafted Mississippi State product Dak Prescott in the fourth round, but he is unlikely to be ready to serve as a backup QB. And that has people talking Nick Foles.

Foles is available as a free agent since being released by the Rams last week at his request. He has experience in the NFC East as a former starter for the Philadelphia Eagles.

When asked about Foles last week, Jerruh didn’t seem interested.

“Foles isn’t an option,” the Cowboys owner and general manager said. “We wouldn’t get him any snaps. We got four that are going to get the snaps.”

Now with Moore going down, Jones’ feelings on the matter may change. Keep in mind that according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys were one of the teams to discuss a trade for Foles prior to the draft.
